Overview
Policy Submissions and Briefings Masterclass
For policy to be considered and selected by ministers and decisions makers, civil servants must provide a timely, well-prepared and presented policy briefing or submission. When there are competing time-pressures and priorities across multiple policy areas, it can prove challenging for civil servants to present their policy suggestions and make an impact on the decisions made by ministers and senior officials. It is therefore crucial for effective policy briefings and submissions to be prepared and presented to provide impactful solutions that cut through the noise and are considered and actioned.
This two-day training programme provides participants with the essential knowledge and skills to provide impactful policy suggestions, briefings and submissions. Attendees will learn how to embed strategic thinking into policy generation and options appraisal, as well as how to establish the evidence and research to support policy options. Throughout the second day of training, a step-by-step guide to create effective policy documents will be provided with the addition of workshop scenarios for attendees to practice creating their own policy documents and presentations.
Participants will end the course with expert knowledge on how to generate impactful policy ideas and how to communicate and brief ministers and decision-makers to quickly digest and make decisions based on their recommendations.
