Measuring the Impact of Policy
Measuring the impact of policy and evaluating its outcomes is often the weakest link in the policy cycle and yet it is crucial to a policy’s progress and sustainability. Failing to diagnose the positive and negative outcomes of an intervention can often lead to a blind spot in policy or regulation which undermines its effectiveness. The purpose of this course is to strengthen participants’ understanding of measuring and evaluating the impact of a policy or regulation, and what to do with information gleaned from the evaluation process.
This three-day programme will review the ways in which policy objectives and evaluation methodologies are interlinked, clarify the need for and purpose of monitoring and evaluation, and set out how to design an effective evaluation plan. This training is suitable for those who are managing or overseeing the evaluation of a new policy and those who require a deeper understanding of how to measure impact and outcomes.
