Testimonial for the Strategic Policy Advocacy Training Programme
We spoke to Abimbola Ogundairo, an attendee from our Strategic Policy Advocacy training programme, on the impact the training has had on her work for charity Africa No Filter. In our conversation with her she outlined how the training course exceeded her expectations, saying:
“It was very helpful and beneficial because it was robust… and the tools were very practical with practice sessions to apply them to hypothetical situations or real life situations… I now know how to build a picture of progress.” She finished by saying “it met the objectives that I set for the course and it did a lot more because it was as practical and learnable as possible.”

We also spoke about why others in the charity space should attend the programme. In response, Abimbola explained, “Anyone in the field is going to really benefit from this as it does not downplay experience and it does not assume experience. In my cohort, other participants had been in the field for years longer and others who were just getting into it but we were all carried along together. So I would say, if you are experienced, it is a great refresher, and if you’re new this is a great introduction.”
Following on from this, Abimbola said “You get to know and practice on real life problems… I brought in real advocacy campaign challenges faced at work and it was great to get input from the newer and older people in the field… and how advocacy campaigns are working in different parts of the world.”
Ending the conversation, Abimbola stated “It’s three day and it looks like a lot but it is much lighter. It is not heavy. It is well paced and you wouldn’t know where the time has gone! It was a very short three days.”
